During the past two decades he has worked in the following institutes/University Departments in various capacities: IIM,Ahmedabad,Faculty Research Associate,South Gujarat University,Surat,Lecturer, ICFAI Business School,Hyderabad,Associate Professor, GIDC ROFEL Institute,Vapi, as Professor & In -charge Director,IBAT,Bhubaneswar, as Professor & PGP Chairman,IISM,Ranchi as Professor & H.O.D He has published several research papers in reputed National Journals.

Prof.Rao was earlier Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, University of Pune and RBI Chair Professor of Finance at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. He was a Ford Foundation Research Scholar in USA for one year (1965-66) and associated with Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA as a teaching fellow. He has over 40 years of teaching and research experience in Economics, Finance and Insurance. He is Professor of Economics, Finance and Insurance and Dean at IIIF.

He has flair for teaching and has more than 30 years of managerial and teaching experience in various aspects relating to Life Insurance, IT Management, Marketing, Life Underwriting, Personality development etc. He retired as Divisional Manager from LIC of India. He was a faculty for System Analysis and Design and IT applications in Life Insurance for 2 years and is now a visiting faculty for Actuarial Concepts and Principles in P.G.D.I.R.M and Masters course in Insurance and risk Management and other subjects relating to life insurance.
